What does paving cost in 2026?

All guide prices in one place: all-in per m², labour only and re-laying your own stones — plus the factors that drive the price.

Paving in 2026 costs on average € 40 to € 100 per m², all-in: labour, paving sand and stones. For a driveway of 20 to 50 m² that means € 1,000 to € 5,000; a patio of 15 to 40 m² comes to € 750 to € 3,500. If you already have the stones, you only pay labour: € 25 to € 45 per m².

The price is largely made below the stones. Groundwork — excavating, removing soil and a compacted sand bed — drives a big share of the bill, and a driveway needs a heavier foundation because a car sits on it. Then the material counts: concrete tiles and pavers are cheapest, clay pavers and natural stone sit at the top; for pattern work in those materials, decorative paving runs € 60 to € 120 per m² all-in.

If your paving has merely sunk, nothing new needs to be bought: re-laying your existing stones costs € 15 to € 35 per m² — by far the cheapest visit, because the material cost disappears.

Always request multiple quotes: for exactly the same job, differences between companies run into double-digit percentages. Set every quote against the price index and check whether groundwork, removal of soil or old paving, and edge restraints are included before you agree.
